  • Appointment/Election:Appointed to the Superior Court for Modoc County in 2003 by Governor Gray Davis and was re-elected in 2004 for an additional six year term.
  • Past Employment:Appointed to Modoc County Superior Court by Gov. Gray Davis, August 2003; solo practice, general law practice, 1987-2003; city attorney, city of Alturas, 1995-2003; city attorney, city of Tulelake, 1990-2003; associate, Bowling, Walter and Gawthrop, Sacramento, 1986-87; associate, Thornton, Taylor and Downs, San Francisco, 1981-1986.
  • Memberships/Awards:Active with several civic and community groups including Rotary International (Past President), Board of Directors for the Alturas Community Theater, Trustee of the Modoc County Law Library, past director for Northern California Senior Legal Services, member of the Juvenile Justice Commission and member of the California Judges Association. Member of the State Rural Courts Education Committee.
  • Education:Graduated U.C. Davis 1976, and graduated U.C. Hastings College of the Law in 1981.

  • Appointment/Election: Appointed (succeeded Judge Robert Barclay, elevated) by Governor Wilson on November 1, 1995, and elected subsequent election.
  • Past Employment: Public defender, Modoc County Defender's Office (1988-1995). Sole practitioner (1976-1988), Head of trial department, Halsted, and Layborne (1973-1974). Assistant U.S. Attorney, Los Angeles, California (1965-1973).
  • Memberships/Awards: Member: Modoc County Bar Association and California Public Defenders Association.
  • Education: LL.B. (1959) University of Arizona Law School, Tuscan, Arizona; B.S. (1956) Northwestern University, Chicago Illinois.
